Move over, sedan – the SUV is growing in popularity for suburban car owners and police officers alike, thanks to the car’s physical pursuit capabilities. Ford is now taking the initiative to create F-150 and Expedition Special Service models, designed specifically for the police force, to rake in the cash.

The former of the two models, the new F-150, will rival its last incarnation with a three-and-a-half-litre EcoBoost V6, paired with a five-litre V8, and the car’s body will be made of an aluminum alloy for optimum efficiency.

The Expedition Special Services model includes the same EcoBoost feature and aluminum construction as the F-150. Ford also ensured both cars were equipped with ten-speed automatic transmission and Auto Start-Stop for fuel conservation.

A two-hundred-forty-amp high-output unit has taken the place of the stock alternator Ford previously used for those who require abundant electricity, though the company has maintained the option of the SuperCrew or XL SuperCab systems for the car owner’s selection freedom.

One major change Ford needed to make to accommodate the demands of police work was the rear differential in the trucks, which was replaced with an electronic limited-slip unit. With this new feature, rough terrain and oversize load jobs can be safely executed.

Ford has not yet revealed if they will equip both new models with a police light bar, or if they’ll forgo it this time around. Regardless, if this business venture works out, Ford could enter a whole new level of success in the automobile industry.
