Most of us could only venture a guess but two YouTube personalities decided to actually do something about it. The Backyard Scientist and GizmoSlip are two individuals who have each amassed significant fan followings on YouTube for answering questions along the lines of the one just mentioned. They answered this one, too, and the end result is going to prove to be something truly impressive.

Using a DIY foundry, the two YouTube stars melted down the necessary amount of aluminum, waiting until it turned black, and became pliable. After dropping the phone into the aluminum, the soupy materials will overwhelm the electronic device, burning off some of its components almost immediately. This includes the battery, as well as the plastic.

Eventually, the phone came back to the surface of the molten aluminum. After turning black, it became pliable. You could even bend it by poking it with a rod. Keep in mind that 1, 221 degrees Fahrenheit is the melting point for aluminum.   • Sheets: Hot water bottles can be put inside your bed before sleeping. A blow dryer can also warm up your sheets, while a heating pad between your sheets can also be effective.
  • Traction: Screwing short sheet metal screws into the bottoms of your sneakers can give you great traction.

Think Tank Futurist Predicts Driverless Vehicles Will Cost Jobs

According to the founder and senior futurist at the DaVinci Institute think tank, he envisions that over the next twenty years, driverless cars may eliminate jobs in multiple (128 or so) industries. He made this bold prediction in April 2016 on his Futurist Speaker website.

Thomas Frey predicts autonomous vehicles will affect all areas of ground transportation, including agriculture, construction, and public services. Frey told Business Insider “it’ll take a long time for this transition to occur.” However, the transition, once it begins, will eliminate many current jobs.


Examples of Lost Job Categories

Frey cites the example of airports. Airports will lose a major revenue source: Parking fees. In lieu of driving to airports, then parking their cars, passengers will have driverless taxis hustle them to their departure airport. There will be no need for shuttle buses, limos, or other taxis. The rental auto counter also will not be required.

Drivers will lose their jobs, including chauffeurs and those who now operate construction vehicles. They will simply not be needed for anything. This does not even consider the auto maintenance people who change your oil, tune your vehicle, install new brakes, or inspect your autos. They too will no longer be needed.

While some industries shouldn’t disappear, like police departments, these will need fewer officers since there are lower numbers of drivers who deserve tickets for violations. Attorneys and judges who typically handle traffic-related cases will also no longer have jobs

Just as automation has eliminated many jobs in the automotive manufacturing industry, driverless cars will have an even wider negative impact, affecting even parking lot attendants.

As artificial intelligence technology becomes more mainstream, this technology possibly could eliminate thousands of jobs, just as it’s doing to the customer service labor market today.

The future of driverless cars is bright; the future of many other jobs related to the auto industry is not.

Akufo-Addo’s NPP Party to Create Ghana’s Integrated Aluminium Industry


Akufo-Addo, the 2016 presidential hopeful candidate in Ghana under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has told Ghanaians that he will put the West African nation on the path to industrialization should he win the presidential elections.

Tapping the Bauxite Deposits

The presidential candidate stated that his administration would exploit bauxite deposits found in the Atiwa plains, Nyinahin and Kyebi areas. The establishment of the integrated aluminium industry is expected to offer value –addition to the bauxite mineral mined in the country.

Export of Products

One way through which value addition would be achieved, is the export of aluminium products, a dream that Akufo-Addo said he had for the industry. He was addressing a huge crowd at Nkawkaw. The latter is NPP’s venue for the party’s Eastern Regional Rally.

Job Creation

Akufo-Addo stressed that the establishment of the industry would create job opportunities to stem the runaway unemployment and especially among the youth not only in the Eastern Region but the country as a whole. The stability of the country, he said, depended on job security. He envisioned a peaceful and stable Ghana, founded on the prosperity through job creation.

216 Factories

The presidential flag bearer of the NPP party expressed his commitment to the creation of a factory in 216 factories spread throughout the country. There are already 300 projects identified and surveyed with marketing plans and product market being worked out. He said that what was remaining is the implementation of the 1-district-1-factory.

Wealth and Development

Akufo-Addo indicated that industrialization would lead to wealth creation and development in Ghana. He vowed to halt the Accra-Kumasi project which had led to the rural-urban migration of young people, potentially causing underdevelopment in the regions and districts.

Abolishment of Import Duty

The presidential hopeful said that he was going to abolish duty imposed on manufacturing equipment and raw materials. To increase competition in the corporate sector, he said that he was committed to reduce the tax rate by 5 % which would be 20%.

Restoring the Fiscal Balance

Among the policy initiative, the NPP presidential candidate was emphatic that the fiscal balance needed to be restored. The Fiscal Responsibility Act, he said, would be re-enacted to create a relationship between the national reserves and government’s expenditure.

Lastly, he pointed out reposition of Ghana to investments through various industries.
